Nouri Jaffar

International and Arab conferences

In the manuscript of his book
"The Creative Abilities in Individuals: Their Brain Foundations and Cultural Elements",
Nouri Jaffar states:

It delights me greatly to declare on this occasion, with a sort of pride in myself not bragging, that I might be the only Iraqi, or the only Arab for that matter, who is interested in modern psychology and its profoundly important educational significations. Furthermore, the research I present now to the reader is the first of its kind, to my knowledge, that is written in Arabic in this comprehensive and precise manner. It is the result of an arduous intellectual effort that took more than ten years, during which period I looked into many basic psychological books in English, and translated as well. I began the first steps of this research in 1970, only to have it crystallize in 1974 when I conducted an extensive study at the University of Sheffield in Britain, and published in English my book, the title of which I translated to “Creativity and Brain Mechanisms”. In it I arrived at New scientific views, some of which I briefly clarified in a lecture I delivered at the first World Conference for Gifted and Talented Children held in England in 1975. I then explained their applications in the field of theoretical natural sciences and mathematics in a lecture I delivered at the second World Conference for Gifted and Talented Children held at the United States in 1977. Afterwards, I tackled their applications in the field of literature and art in a lecture I delivered at the third World Conference for Gifted and Talented Children held in Canada in 1981. Nowadays, I am working on the preparation of a lecture explaining the applications of those views in the field of technology to be delivered at the fourth World Conference for Gifted and Talented Children, which is due in the Philippines in 1983.
